Continental gets approval to join Star Alliance

Continental Airlines yesterday received a tentative OK to join Star Alliance, although the US Department of Transportation will require Continental, United, Air Canada and Lufthansa to release an 'annual report' on the alliance. Star Alliance is already by far the largest airline alliance, and the addition of Continental just makes it even bigger. As such, the US government has expressed concern about the impact on competition - and so has Delta, Continental's current partner in the SkyTeam alliance, which has complained that the impact on US domestic routes would be too large, given that United and US Airways are already members.

NOW... AMERICAN AIRLINES HAD THIS GRRRRRRRRRREAT COULDNT PASS UP DEAL FROM MIAMI TO PANAMA....

I LIVE IN SEATTLE SO I FIGURED- SHOOT BOOK THOSE TICKETS THEN LOOK OUT FOR A STEAL FROM SEATTLE TO MIAMI.
GREAT THINKING RIGHT? WELL.. IT WAS UNTIL I LOGGED ON 28 HOURS LATER AND SPENT 2 HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT

HOW TO GET MY FLIGHT SWITCHED BECAUSE I FOUND A KILLER DEAL FROM SEATTLE TO PANAMA, THAT CONNECTED IN MIAMI- AND JUST BY COINCIDENCE WAS FLIGHT 959.. WHICH WAS MY ORIGINAL FLIGHT #.

SO I CALLED AMERICAN.. AND SAID HEY, I AM ALREADY ON 959 I JUST WANT YOU TO HONOR THE DEAL THAT IS ON YOUR WEB SPECIAL, AND CHARGE MY THE DIFFERENCE SINCE IM BEGINNING MY TRIP IN SEATTLE INSTEAD OF MIAMI.

THEY SAID ITD BE 150.00 TO CHANGE MY FLIGHT + MY AIRFARE DIFFERENCE... WELL THAT'S NOT REALLY A DEAL NOW IS IT? THAT TOTALS JUST OVER 300.00 NOR IS THAT DISPLAYING GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

HOLY HELL I WAS ALREADY ON FLIGHT 959 ITS NOT LIKE THEY HAD TO CHANGE MY FLIGHT NUMBER OR ANYTHING...

OH ANOTHER COOL THING, IS THAT MY FLIGHT IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
SO IM SCREWED :) BUT, SHE WAS NICE ENOUGH TO THROW IN THE FACT THAT HAD I CALLED 4 HOURS SOONER, SHE COULD'VE WAIVED THE 150.00 FLIGHT CHANGE FEE. OH MY GOD I WANT TO KILL AMERICAN AIRLINES RIGHT NOW.

AND BOTH PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH AT AMERICAN, DON'T REALLY SEEM TO CARE.

I DID HOWEVER WRITE A COMPLAINT EMAIL TO AMERICAN, AND TOLD THEM I'D BE STICKING WITH ALASKA AND OTHER NON LAME AIRLINES FROM HERE FORWARD.. AND BELIEVE ME- FOR BEING 19 YEARS OLD... I FLY A LOT. THEY CAN COUNT ME OUT OF 80 YEARS OF MY BUSINESS + MY FUTURE HUSBAND, + OUR CHILDREN.. AND ALL OF MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY- BECAUSE MY DAD WILL DEFENITELY BACK ME WHEN I FEEL I HAVE BEEN WRONGED. AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BLOG ABOUT THIS FOR A LONG TIME. I AM SICK OF BUSINESSES RIPPING PEOPLE OFF... AND I HAVE HAD IT.

TO: EXECS AT CONTINENTAL AIRLINES

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY CONTINENTAL AIRLINES IS STILL NOT BEING COMPLIABLE WITH THERE CUSTOMERS WHO WANTS TO EXCHANGE THERE TICKETS TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE DURING THIS EPIDEMIC THAT'S GOING ON IN MEXICO, THEY ARE STILL CHARGING FEES FOR TO MAKE THE TRANSFER, THAT SHOULD BE UN CALLED FOR WHILE THIS DISEASED IS GOING ON. FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL, MAY, AND JUNE, CONTINENTAL AIRLINES SHOULD CHANGE PEOPLE AIRLINE TICKETS WITH NO PROBLEM, IF THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT GOING TO MEXICO THEN DON'T MAKE THEM PAY FOR EXCHANGING THERE TICKETS. THIS DISEASE IS NOT GOING AWAY IN 2 WEEKS ITS IMPOSSIBLE. (EX. SARS, AND BIRD FLU) SO CONTINENTAL NEEDS TO STOP THINKING ABOUT MAKING PROFITS AND START HAVING A CONSCIENCE ABOUT PEOPLE LIVELIHOOD REMEMBER WE ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS,,, CONTINENTAL AIRLINES???

Don't need to be an expert on Mid Atlantic Geography to know that this greatly increases Star Alliance at Newark.
